Ever wonder what the average boat costs? The National Marine Manufacturers Association has answers, though it depends on the type of boat you are looking for.

In 2007, the latest year for which statistics are available, the average cruiser with inboard engines cost $465,862. The average ski boat cost $47,234, the average stern drive cost $44,237 and the average sailboat was $60,708. Personal watercraft were $9,931 and inflatables were $4,012.

Given the state of the market – sales are way down – those numbers could go either way in 2008.
