On The Docks: Krogen 55 Expedition
By

.: GLEN JUSTICEGLEN JUSTICE

We haven't been out on the Krogen 55 Expedition by kadey-Krogen Yachts yet, but even a quick tour through Hull No. 1 here in Miami revealed much to impress.

The latest Krogen is a passagemaker, a full-displacement trawler capable of going 7,100 miles on its 1,880-gallon fuel capacity at 6 knots, according to the company.

The boat has a 60-foot, 2-inch LOA; an 18 foot bean; and a draft of 4 feet, 10 inches. It displaces almost 88,000 pounds and, with twin John Deere 158-horsepower engines, its top speed is 10 knots.

The boat has some nice features, like the twin "wing" piloting stations on either side of the boat, which allow the captain to control both engines and thrusters with an unimpeded line of sight. Hunn No. 1, called Invictus, also had a remote control mounted in the stern cockpit.

The boat, at a base price of almost $1.9 million also comes with a great deal of standard gear, including thrusters, stabilization, fuel polishing, oil exchange "” even a $25,000 custom decorating allowance.
