Oceanco's SOLAS Visions

Oceanco PA090

Some builders believe there’s still a demand for super-size superyachts, Oceanco being one of them. When you consider that one of the yard’s “smallest” projects is a 60-meter (197-footer), it makes sense.

Feadship’s Trident

Grey-stained wood – on the interior of a yacht? Yes – and in combination with mirrored overheads, cream carpeting and countless tones and textures.

Before you start envisioning battered teak amid a decor that's a mishmash of clashing elements, rest assured that it works – and works well. These are among the many pleasant surprises aboard Trident, the latest delivery from Feadship. She's 213 feet of creativity, from her interior design to the way she adapts to guest needs.

There are therefore some similarities in exterior style between Trident and Blue Moon. The flared bow is one. Both Blue Moon and Trident are from the drawing boards of De Voogt Naval Architects, responsible for nearly all Feadships. Similar, too, is the way the tenders are stowed above deck, tucked just forward of the bridge-deck lounge.

The company has come a long way since its start in the mid- to late 1980s, as you’ll learn in this podcast. Rick Thomas, vice president of sales, talks about some of the biggest challenges that Nautical Structures has faced.

San Diego’s Superyacht Success

Fifth Avenue Landing marina, San Diego

Mention Fifth Avenue, and some people will think of New York City’s famed street. But among the megayacht set, at least where West Coast cruising is concerned, it’s a nine-month-old marina that’s making a name for itself.
