Here in the southeast US, we have had a pretty severe drought for several years. Lots of talk of global warming, etc.
Well, I now know the real cause of the drought - it's my boat.
The entire time I was building the hull, it was either under cover, or was in a condition that it really didn't matter if it rained on it. For that entire time, we had drought and very, very little rain.
Then I flipped it over. Within days it started to rain. Of course that large, open hull became a 28' lap pool. I literally had a nightmare that I was swimming in my boat hull and it split open from the weight of the water.
I assumed that getting the decks and cabin closed up would solve that problem. As I wrote last week, it didn't. Rain still came through the side decks.
After some thought, and finding 1/2 a can of bedliner material in the garage that I didn't know I had left (this stuff has a short shelf life and won't keep) I decided to put another good coat on the side decks.
Well, I can only assume it worked... it hasn't rained since. I figure that if its reasonably water tight, the rain is gone again.
I'll let you know how it really did if it ever rains.
