Two Years and counting

Well, as fitting for a Mother's Day, yesterday was is the two year anniversary of the start of my build, and we're still going.

May 10th, 2007 I ordered the plans with a bit (well, maybe more than a bit) of trepidation. A few days later they arrived and I started figuring out how this thing would go together.

Originally, I hoped to be in the water within two years, but realistically didn't really think I would make that. In some ways, I'm closer than I would have thought. We have a hull that would probably float (I sure hope so) and a cabin that is coming together.

Life continues to get in the way at times, and several parts of my life have changed in the last two years, but Melanie, Dane and I continue to enjoy the process and look forward to getting on the water.

If you are considering a boat build, remember that its a "long haul" project. Especially if you have to work a full time job, and/or have family commitments to maintain, it won't go quick, but its great fun (most of the time).
