On the Docks: Ranger Tugs R-29

.: GLEN JUSTICEGLEN JUSTICE

The Ranger Tugs R-29 debuted earlier this year, taking her place as the flagship in a line that appears destined for cult status.

Like the C-Dory boats and other trailerable pocket cruisers, Ranger Tugs are gaining a special place in the hearts of boaters who love practicality in a salty and economical package.

The R-29 has a 33-foot LOA, including a large swim platform, and a beam of 10 feet. It draws two feet, four inches and displaces 9,250 pounds. With the single 260-horsepower Yanmar, it will cruise at 15 knots, according to the company.

With a base price of almost $215,000, the Ranger Tugs R-29 has an impressive list of standard equipment, including six batteries, a 2,000 kilowatt inverters and both bow and stern thrusters.

We haven't tested her, but she cuts an impressive figure on the docks. Have a look...
