Mercury's latest MercMonitor is green — literally.

The gauge glows green when fuel economy is optimized (see photos below), which can cut fuel consumption and save money.

Mercury's gauge uses an algorithm to monitor fuel economy while the boat moves, giving the captain visual clues as they go. It works with Mercury engines and gear, and with other manufacturers using NMEA 2000 and some configuration.

While there are many ways to monitor fuel consumption, Mercury's solution provides one very obvious solution, for less than $300. For boaters running Mercury gear, it might make sense.
