Visit the booth at Quickline USA and you see a lot of innovation going on in the mooring and anchoring department: flat anchor lines, stainless steel trip hooks that are shiny as chrome, snubbers in new and interesting shapes and something called the Ultra anchor.
While this stuff may not be for everyone, you have to appreciate the willingness to try something new. Of particular interest is the Quickline Flatrope & Reel (pictured above), which is designed to attach to the boat and provide a tidy and strong line for mooring, towing or tossing a stern anchor.
We haven't tested them, but it looks like a promising idea: just crank out the line on its reel whenever you need it. The product comes in different sizes and lengths, with both nylon and Dyneema line available, and is priced from $430 to $1,254.
In addition to new ideas, the folks at Quickline get points for something else: toys. Their sandbox anchor display, boat model and collection of tiny anchors is a lot of fun. Each is built to scale, in order to demonstrate the anchor's performance.

The flat anchor lines are not really new; Europeans have used them for a long time, especially for stern anchors when Med mooring.
